Grammar

"Et" for the weather, "ginn" for what is coming

Weather sentences start with the impersonal "et": Et reent, Et ass kal, Et sinn zéng Grad.

To say what the weather will be, everyday Luxembourgish uses "ginn" (to become): Muer gëtt et waarm. (Tomorrow it will be warm.)

  • Am Wanter schneit et heiansdo. — In winter it sometimes snows.
  • Huel de Prabbeli mat, et reent. — Take the umbrella, it is raining.
